The "New" Plan-Version 2

Today we went to meet with the cardiologist and surgeon. To our surprise we learned that our surgery had to be postponed until Tuesday. In some ways this is a blessing for our family. I was dreading leaving the girls on Easter and feeling a bit frazzled. This way we have all of Sunday as a family and will be able to get Grandma here and "filled in" before leaving for the hospital at 6 am on Monday.

Meeting with the surgeon today was very helpful. They will continue to reconstruct the heart and how the blood enters and exits the heart and lungs. After this surgery Nathaniel's heart will have it's work cut in half. The heart will no longer have to feed blood to the body and the lungs. The heart will be responsible for the body and a vein will be connected to give flow to the lungs. This should help with the enlarged heart problem and hopefully the contraction issues as well. This time he will be put on the bypass machine but if the tricuspid valve looks okay they will not have to stop his heart.

I wish you could all see our little angel. He is beautiful and his smile is contagious (but hard to catch with a camera)! LOL! Hopefully we have some new pictures posted this weekend.
