At Home...

Sorry it's been so long since our last post. Quick update...Nathaniel came home February 4th, he wasn't too thrilled about the car seat.  He was back in the ER on the 6th because of bloody poop again, along with a loss of weight over the two days he'd been home. The blood seems to have cleared up after a meeting with a Gastrointerologist (sp?) that changed his formula again. We're on version 4 or 5 I don't remember. Anyway now he is chugging down the formula (that tastes NASTY!) throwing it up, not pooping and ornery. We met with the GI again this morning and have decided not to change anything and meet with him again in a week and a half. In the mean time we hope he poops!
Nathaniel has meetings with the Cardiologist team every Friday until he is more stable. Stable meaning weight gain has found an average and his stomach issues are more normal. He goes a week without gaining much and then gains at least 200 grams in two days. Because he's not pooping we're not sure how that is affecting his weight but he has gained 250 grams in the last 4 days he should be averaging 10-20 grams a day. Today he is weighing about 9lbs 11oz. James and I can't see why they're concerned that he isn't gaining "enough", he is the plumplest baby we've had. The doctor's are doing a good job of fattening him up for the upcoming surgery, considering he still isn't consuming the amount of formula they want him to take in one day. The concern the doctor's have about his weight gain happening sporatically is that
he may be retaining water-not good for a heart baby. The concern with his stomach is that if his problems are not a result a milk protein allergy then it could be that his heart isn't pumping enough blood to his stomach for it to work properly. I tell you if it isn't one thing it's another. We just take it as it comes and have faith that it will all work itself out. I'm going to post a few different things in the same day to break things up a little.
