Memorial Day 2012

For Memorial Day this year we decided to visit Battleship Texas and San Jacinto Monument. Clarissa studied Texas history this year in school and had learned some about the battle at San Jacinto. Both of these places are amazing trips into history. The Battleship Texas is one of the very few that you can tour and the only battleship that was in both WWI and WWII. Everyone learned something new including, this was the first ship with an ice creamery. They would pull along other ships and trade goods for ice cream. Considering the time it is also incredible that they had laundry facilities on board as well as many other accommodations. It really was a fun day. All of the children enjoyed the outing and want to go again. I consider this amazing seeing as how it was HOT and we got eaten by MOSQUITOS. Next time I'll plan a little better. On the way home Clarissa asked if there is a Lake Houston. To our surprise James took a detour and we drove over Lake Houston. Marinda wasn't impressed with our surprise. So we gave them a different surprise and took them all to Potatoe Patch. Everyone caught a roll, except Brent, which was the highlight of the meal. I'm so glad the day was a success!
